Jakarta (ANTARA News) - So far, there have been no indications that terrorist elements have had a hand in Wednesday morning`s Garuda airplane accident in Yogyakarta, a national security official said.

At least twenty-one people were killed when a Garuda Airline Boeing 737-400 carrying 133 and seven crew on board caught fire after landing at the Adisutjipto airport in Yogyakarta.

Non-technical factors such as sabotage or terror acts have so far not been found in the tragedy, Ansyaad said.
Asked if the presidential instruction meant there were indications terrorist elements had begun to target transportation means, Arsyaad replied in the negative.
He said the presidential instruction was merely an anticipatory measure aimed at making the country more aware of various possible terrorist threats, including threats against transportation means.
Widodo recently told the House of Representatives (DPR)`s Commission I his office had already started investigating the various transport accidents that had happend in the country in the recent past. But so far, there had been no signs of terrorist involvement in the accidents, he said.(*) |
