Source : The Jakarta PostJAKARTA (Antara): State Secretary Yusril Ihza Mahendra Thursday was questioned by interrogators of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on a corruption case involving an official in the Justice and Human Rights Ministry. An alleged mark-up during the procurements of the Automatic Identification Fingerprints System (AFIS) by the Justice and Human Rights Ministry occurred when Yusril still led the ministry in 2004.
The alleged mark-up caused some Rp 18.48 billion of state loss. KPK has arrested two suspects -- project leader Aji Afendi and his business partner, President Director of PT Sentra Filindo Eman Rahman, who was accused of bribing Rp 370 million to Aji after his company was appointed to handle the project. Yusril, who was questioned as a witness in the case, confirmed that PT Sentra Filindo was directly appointed by Aji without passing through tender bid. He, however, did not come into detail. "I will explain the case (to you)," Yusril was quoted by Antara news agency as saying when he just arrived in the KPK headquarters for questioning. (**) |
